1869 (May) Cover to England via Marseille with rare circular "RANGOON / R.H / No. 1 / POST OFFICE" backstamp in red (unlisted by Proud but believed to have been used at Rangoon Cantonment - Davis & Martin refer to a Receiving House opened there by 1869), franked 7a with ½a pair, 2a + 4a each cancelled octagonal "B/156", underpaid by 1a8p. Handstamped boxed "INSUFFICIENT" (apparently then crossed through) and "MADRAS / INDIA UNPAID" c.d.s (June 14), boxed "DEFICIENT POSTAGE 3 / FINE - 9 } 1/-" with oval "MORE / TO PAY" applied in London Small repair to lower left corner and minor edge faults, an attractive and unusual cover.
