A Silver Ghuznee Medal 1839 With 2 Unofficial Bars For Afghanistan & Khelat. The medal has been
reworked by a local silver smith, as the hanger is from an Indian General Service Medal and the bars have
been hand made in silver. The medal was awarded to a soldier in the 2 nd Bn Queens Regiment (East
Surrey’s) for the Battle of Ghuznee on the 23 rd July 1839, when the Regiment stormed the Fortress at
Ghazni. The Battle of Ghuznee was the first Battle Honour to be awarded to the Regiment by Queen
Victoria and the first medal to be awarded since Waterloo.
