Footnote: handwritten label verso 'J Varley, 15 Broad St, Golden Square' - Varley was registered as living at this address between 1804-1812. Label verso for F.R. Meatyard Art Dealer, Museum Street, London 'Classical landscape with shepherd boy and sheep' - in 1806 Varley exhibited a watercolour titled 'The Shepherd's Boy' at the the Old Watercolour Society (OWCS) of which Varley was a founding member.
