19th Century American School. Portrait of Maria Huarte (1832-1861), Ink, drawn Oval and Inscribed and Dated 1832 on the mount, 4.25” x 3.5” (10.8 x 9cm). Notes: Maria Huarte was the first Empress of Mexico. When her Emperor husband abdicated in 1823 they went into exile in the United States. She died in Philadelphia.
