A Minton part dinner service transfer printed with a gothic trellis design after Pugin, in wine red, comprising six dinner plates, 23cm diameter, pair of soup/pasta dishes, seven tea plates, pair of "tea bowls on saucers", produced for the House of Lords, c.1990

More Information

Good condition, each mark scratched through, produced for the dining rooms in the Palace of Westminster in conjunction with the restoration of the Speaker’s House c1990, and not originally for sale to the public.
Provenance: These items were surplus to the order, and were left in storage at the former Spode works in Stoke. When the premises were cleared prior to their sale, these were discovered, and put on sale through the Spode factory shop. It was at this point that the backstamp was defaced, not because they were seconds but because they were not supposed to be sold openly by Spode.
