1909 (Jan 14) Registered cover from Croydon to "Revd Geo. Penny, Kokoda, Papua" franked 3d, transit and arrival datestamps of London, Brisbane, Port Moresby and Kokoda. Endorsed "Not Known" and posted back to the sender in England by registered mail franked 1907 small Papua overprint ½d (2, S.G. 38) and 1907-09 perf 12½ 4d (S.G. 57), the three overlapping stamps cancelled at Kokoda (June 16) with oval framed "R", backstamped at Samarai, Sydney, London and Croydon. A very scarce and unusual registered cover twice sent between England and Papua, opened out for display, fine. Photo on Page 196.
