WILLIAM OWEN, RA (1769-1825). PORTRAIT OF DOROTHY MARGARET, LADY WESTMACOTT (1778-1834). Seated half length, wearing a white dress and hat, with a pale pink corsage, oil on canvas, in an associated frame (possibly French)

* This is a variant of the picture exhibited at The Royal Academy, 1802, no.112 (as `Mrs R. Westmacott`), which was sold at Sothebys, London, November 28th 2002, lot 168

* The sitter (nee Wilkinson) was married to the sculptor Sir Richard Westmacott, RA (1775-1856) from 1798. This picture has passed by descent in the sitter's family. *Condition: Lined; retouching; some bitumen damage, principally in the background and not affecting the principal subject.
