TIVERTON (DEVON) - PRISONER ON PAROLE LETTER TO FRANCE ENDORSED "C P/L" & INITIALLED "TE"; Fine 25 Jan. 1812 EL (no place of writing indicated but with two mentions of Tiverton prisoners) to Paris (v. fine red 3-ring 14 March cds on reverse) charged "9" [decimes] but also endorsed "C P/L" and "TE" on the front; according to Renollaud (this cover illustrated on p.143) these meant Parole letter via London and T[homas] E[nchmarshat]" the local parole agent in Tiverton.
