A FIRST WORLD WAR PAIR AND PLAQUE TO THE NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. A Great War Pair comprising a War Medal and Victory Medal named to 6-5722 Pte C. Wheeldon Northu'D Fus. The plaque to Charles Wheeldon, mounted in a frame around a central photograph of the recipient in uniform with two wound stripes visible. Charles Wheeldon from Hanley in Staffordshire served with the 1/5th Battalion, he is also recorded with number 242394. He was killed in action on the 22nd March 1918. He is buried at Trefcon British Cemetery, Caulincourt, West of Saint-Quentin, his headstone reads 'Their glory shall not be blotted out'. Overall dimensions 49 x 41cm. *CR Not examined out of frame. A lot fee of £8 inc. VAT will be charged on top of the hammer price and BP on all lots.
