World War II RAF Casualty Items Relating To The Service Of Sergeant William Southward 565970. Includes 1939-45 Star, Aircrew Europe Star, 1939-45 War Medal, RAF pilot wings, photographs, service papers and administrative letters. We understand that Sergeant Southward served with No.22 Squadron RAF which specialised in mine laying and torpedo attacks. On 9th May 1940 Sergeant Southward failed to return from an operational sortie and was initially posted as missing in action but it later transpired that he had indeed been killed in action.
