Enfield Rifle P53 of the 4 Middlesex Volunteer Rifles, lock marked crown over "VR" and "Tower 1856" (some pitting) barrel 39", struck down & refinished with loss to proof marks. Spring retained solid barrel bands, top band lacks swivel (replacement?) and swivel missing from trigger guard. Good walnut stock with PIMLICO storekeepers mark and '2' (2nd class arm). Butt plate tang nicely marked "V" (Volunteer) "Mx 4" and "169". A good looking rifle which has undergone restoration to metal parts, ramrod is a later (modern) replacement, GWO & Condition (B/Bands replaced?).
