PRESS PHOTOGRAPHY. Poland and Polish Defence Forces. Second World War, principally circa 1938-45, with a couple of anniversary photographs from the 1950s and 60s. Approximately 83 black and white photographs by Keystone, Associated Press, Wide World Photos and related agencies, together with a few by Polish companies, majority with printed captions verso. Sizes ranging from approximately 21.5cm x 16cm to 25.5cm x 20cm Subjects include: • Warsaw in Ruins, 13th February 1940 • The Polish submarine Orzel (lost in June, 1940) • Polish Infantry, Cavalry, Despatch Riders and more • Liberated Polish girls joining the W.A.A.F in Britain • German soldiers escorting captured Polish troops • German Generals holding a conference with Polish commanders about the future of Warsaw, 3rd October 1939 • The Destruction of Warsaw • Torpedoes being fired from ORP Piorun • Provisional President M. Ratziekwicz and General Sikiroski reviewing Polish troops in France and more (approximately 83)
