The first with discoloured 'margin' from former mounting, surface scratches and some dirt, portions of craquelure, and the lower board with a stable split. The second with a similarly discoloured 'margin' from former mounting, some surface wear and craquelure, but no loss of pigment. The pencil sketch foxed, with discoloured losses to former pigment.
