1909 4d Orange-red (Perf. 14). Envelope sent from Manchester to Paris bearing a 2d pale grey-green & carmine red (SG227) and a 4d Orange-red (SG241) both tied by Piccadilly, Manchester cds' for DE.1.1909 the fist day of issue for the 4d value. A lovely example of this exceedingly rare first day cover. Two Manchester datestamps for DE.1.1909 on reverse alongside a ‘Wm Ward - Stamp Dealer’ violet handstamp dated the same day. Small part archive tape at top from opening and reinforcing. SG241. Booth Cat £2,650.
