A FIRST WORLD WAR MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO A CASUALTY ABOARD H.M.S. INVINCIBLE AT JUTLAND. A Great War Memorial Plaque named to Walter Henry Heather. Walter Heather was the son of Thomas and Sarah Heather of 53 West Village, Rosyth, Dunfermline, a native of Portsmouth he was born in 1898, he was killed in action on the 31st May 1916 aboard the Battlecruiser H.M.S. Invincible of the 3rd Battle Cruiser Squadron. During the Battle of Jutland she achieved eight hits on the Lutzow. At 18.31 a heavy shell struck 'Q' turret and ignited the magazine and the ship went down in ten seconds. There were only six survivors from the crew of 1032. Walter was 18 years old, he is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
