A Chinese Canton famille rose 'elephant' candlestick, Qing Dynasty, 19th century. With a vase-shaped candle sconce upon his back, the body painted with iron-red and gold, the saddlecloth with scrolling foliage and flowers on a gilt ground, the underside with a single red character mark, height 18.5cm, width 22.5cm, depth 15.5cm.
