STEPHEN ASSELIN OF LONDON (1670-1744): A green lacquer striking and chiming bracket clock, the gilt dial with calendar and pendulum apertures, subsidiary dials for hours and quarter strike/silent and a painted lunar disk to the arch. The three train movement with verge escapement and chiming on six bells, the backplate with engraved arabesque foliage, supporting a putto, inverted bell-top case with carry handle to top, red and gilt chinoiseries on a green ground. Together with later ogee moulded bracket. With winding key, door key, pendulum and Sotheby's sale catalogue excerpt from February 3rd 1961. 46cm high, 30cm wide, 21cm deep.
