A DOCUMENTED CHARLES II BRONZE MORTAR, UNIDENTIFIED LONDON FOUNDRY, CIRCA 1660. With twin lugs, the flared body cast four times with a unicorn medallion, with border legend, height 12.8cm, rim width 16.2cm Literature: Illustrated and discussed, M. Finlay, 'English Decorated Bronze Mortars' (2010), p. 77, pl. 117. The author notes the legend, although incomplete, appears to include the word 'FELICITAS' for fertility or happiness.
