A MID 19TH CENTURY APPRENTICE PIECE MAHOGANY AND BRASS BOUND CAMPAIGN CHEST of two short and three long graduated drawers, brass inset handles, escutcheons, in two sections and on turned vase feet, 32cm wide x 15cm deep x 31.5cm high
The surface:
Old scratches and knocks, heavier scratches to the right hand side
The front - the lacquer on the brass is scratched and worn in places
Top right hand escutcheon is different to others - slightly bigger - and the lock plate sits pround of the internal side of the drawer front.
The key only fits this lock.
The varnish to the drawer fronts is chipped/worn in places
Left hand side - one of the screws has been replaced. Knocks and scuffs from normal wear and tear
Right hand side - top right hand corner beneath the brass mount there is a triangular patch to the mahogany. There is a small gap at the front of the mount.
Back - The top back board is partial loose, some of the pins are missing from the lower section of the sides. There is a crack to the board extending half way across the the back.
