1979 Rowland Hill Centenary, original handpainted essays for the six stamps and miniature sheet each with the head of Rowland Hill applied, the designs similar to those used for the adopted set but with differing values and incorrectly worded "History of Postal Transport", the miniature sheet essay on thick card (170x151mm), the six stamp essays each on thin card (51x38mm or 38x51mm) mounted on a larger piece of thick card with notes on the designs written on the reverse.
