70th (Surrey) Regiment of Foot Victorian Officer shoulder belt plate circa 1844-55.
Fine scarce seeded gilt rectangular plate with burnished rim; mounted with a cut silver Garter Star on a gilt slip bearing gilt crowned Garter with SURREY scroll below. Retains original backing liner. Two hooks and two studs. VGC Became 2nd Bn. East Surrey Regiment on Friday 1st July 1881.
