A type-written document regarding Flight Lieutenant John Talbot Lovell Shore (39177) of the RAFO detailing his escape from occupied territory on 19th October 1941. The document is addressed to the Directorate of Military Intelligence (MI9) and dated 27th October 1941.
At this stage of WW2, MI9 was working on the interrogation of escaped British PoWs, debriefing them and going through all the information that may garner additional useful intelligence to further help with future escape attempts.
Flight Lieutenant Shore was returning from bombing Cologne on the night of the 27th March 1941, when at 12,000 ft. his starboard engine packed up. After his crew had bailed at 8,000 ft he himself left the aircraft by parachute at 1,500 ft. He landed 6½ miles from Neusden En Maas in the Netherlands.
