Early Maori Figure on post, New Zealand. Carved and engraved wood. Delicately carved in an early tiki of a more avian form with hands to the side and across waist/belly. Carved on a square block and probably never used. Old worn patina. cf. Collection of the Mackelvie Trust Board, Auckland, 1885, (809), on loan to Auckland War Memorial Museum, No. 46259.
