A MICKEY MOUSE GAS MASK CASE, multi-coloured lithographed tinplate case with lid, showing Mickey wearing his gas mask with his nephews trying to guess who or what it is! Happynak Series, No.50, Made in England, c.1941, It was thought using Mickey Mouse as a role model would make the thought of wearing a gas mask less scary for children, it is believed only a relatively small number of these tins were produced as the government decided all metal was needed for the war effort, tin is complete with lid but has some knocks and dents, paint loss, marking and wear, string handle appears to be a replacement, has original owners name and address scratched to underside of lid, complete with gas mask, not known if this is the original for this tin, gas mask marked '3297A NBR12 37.' appears complete but rubber has perished, height of tin (with lid) approx. 21cm, diameter approx.10cm (do not wear, some models contain asbestos)
