ONE INTERNEE's RESCUE STORY (3 LETTERS REF. TRIP VIA LABUAN), AIR-DROP LEAFLETS, PHOTOGRAPHS, ETC.; 11/18 Sept. 1945 (two ex Kuching Camp) + 3 Oct. 1945 (ex Singapore) trio of long letters (on Australian YMCA paper; no envs. but with full typed transcripts) from Internee Matthew Allen to his sister with very detailed account of his rescue, life in the Camp, and transit through Labuan (a delightful 3 days in a tent on the beach) before reaching very poor accommodation in Singapore; a graphic account - the first letter written on the very day that the POWs were officially "free". Plus 28 Aug. 1945 printed (in Malay, Japanese & English) leaflet distributed in Changi Prison to guards and POWs about keeping 'quiet' etc., pair of pre-war Kuala Belait photos with Japanese censor marks on reverse (one of local cricket team!), 3 photos of the AIF Base at Morotai, 1944 trio of letters from Osaka POW Camp (no envs.), etc. Historical lot.
