Stretcher marks to the upper edge together with some paint flaking at the extreme upper edge. Three repaired tears and subsequent overpainting, the largest of which is on the sitter's arm, an area of approx. 8cm x 4cm. Some craquelure visible to the left of the sitter. The old varnish has browned throughout. Slight rippling to the canvas particularly in the upper corners. Framed appears original with minor knocks to the extremities. Small losses and discolouration.
