An early 12 bolt diving helmet, in the style of Siebe Gorman, by Yokahama Diving Company, 41cm high

Made in Hiroshima in the 1930’s. The upper bonnet with oval side windows with characteristic criss-cross side guards, large circular front window with raised rim. Unlike many far-eastern helmets this helmet has a spitcock. A close up view of the crown of the helmet shows it is of a hand beaten construction (zig-zag interlocking pattern can be plainly seen) this signifies it is not machine turned and is an early helmet dating around the 1930s.

The helmet was recovered from a salvage vessel in Ireland. It is damaged with a large dent to the top, the glass to the
front faceplate is cracked.
