1773 (May 17) Entire letter written at sea, completed five days later at Madeira, addressed to "Mr P.F Dobree at Thos Dobree Esq., Island of Guernsey, to the care of Mr Wm Seward, mercht at Southampton", the reverse endorsed "Forwd by yr most H.S Wm Seward" with a "17/AU" Bishop Mark, the front with an unusually fine strike of the scarce "BRIGHT / HELM / STONE / SHIP LRE" (S.1), rated "In all 7". Minor staining and light vertical and horizontal folds, an early use of this scarce ship letter, unusual on a letter to Guernsey forwarded from Southampton. Photo on Page 62.
