A George IV boxed silver gilt strawberry set, comprising two tablespoons by Robert Gainsford, Sheffield 1826, and a matching caster spoon dated London 1827 (maker's mark worn), each engraved and embossed with bamboo, leaves, birds and bees, with scalloped bowls and vacant cartouches to handles, caster spoon 14.5cm long, tablespoons each 21.5cm long, gross weight of set 4.28ozt (3)

Spoons are in good order, no signs of splitting, thinning, denting or repair to any of the pieces. Moderate wear to the gilt across all pieces, moderate scratching and wear to each piece. All engraved and embossed detail is crisp.

Heavy wear to the box. Original colour beneath spoons is royal blue, but exposed areas have become a sage green colour. Heavy pulling and fraying to the silk lining. Heavy denting, scratching and wear to the leather exterior.
