Pair of Waterloo era Ensigns's brass and embroided rank epaulettes attributed to Alexander Duke Hamilton 35th Regiment of Foot, very fine and better. With part of a card label inscribed "This is the Waterloo epaulet worn by my grandfather at Waterloo, as an ensign. There is only one heir ***". With a later label inscribed "Epaulette belonging to Major Alexander Duke Hamilton." With quantity of copied research, he was made ensign in 35th Foot 27/10/14 in 35th Foot which was part of Colville's Division at the Battle of Waterloo, and is listed on the medal roll in Captain Drumgoole's Company. Later Lieut in 16th Foot 24/8/20, Capt 73rd Foot 15/9/25 and Major 73rd Foot 28/12/32, placed on half pay 18/5/38, to 66th Foot 12/10/41. (See photo) (½B)
