After Thomas Walmsley (Irish 1763/4-1805),
'View on the River Dee near Bala',
Hand-coloured aquatint on paper applied to canvas, engraved by Francis Jukes (1745-1812), published by Francis Jukes, London 1792,
The plate 35cm x 44cm,
The sheet 35.5cm x 44.5cm,
Framed and glazed (at fault)

Provenance: Property of 7th Baron Harlech, The Lord Harlech, Glyn & Brogyntyn Estates

More Information

The print is framed under glass and has not been removed for inspection. The print shows age-related darkening to the paper and probable fading to the colours. The canvas backing is not taut on the stretcher, resulting a broad ripple across the sheet. The lower margin shows some staining throughout. The frame is structurally sound, but shows ingrained dirt, wear and chipping to the gilt finish throughout. The glass shows a crack to the lower right corner. There appears to be some dust or similar trapped between the glass and the print surface.
