A GEORGE V NAVAL GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL 1909-62 WITH PERSIAN GULF 1909-14 CLASP. A Naval General Service Medal with Persian Gulf 1909-1914 clasp, named to 280004 G.A. Gates Ldg Sto H.M.S. Proserpine. George Albert Gates from Sarisbury Green in Hampshire was born on the 27th August 1875, he initially enlisted in Portsmouth on the 15th of July 1895 for 12 years, eventually being discharged on the 31st January 1917. His was one of only 477 such medals and clasps to H.M.S. Proserpine (confirmed to roll). He also served in the Great War and will have been entitled to further medals. Mounted for display with copied research.
