A fine Japanese Meiji period bronze of a smiling bare foot old man dressed in peasant clothes, circa 1900. The level of detail is exceptional from fine detailing of the man's facial features to the woven basket on the man's back, the conical hat in his left hand and the utensils hanging from his rope belt. The figure stands on a naturalistic base.
