4to (27 x 20 x 9,5cm) 600pp. + 598pp. Original half leather bindings, with blue boards, 5 raised bands, gilt lettering to spines, gilt inlays to front boards, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt, with frontispieces and various fine steel-engraved monochrome plates.

Condition: Very good. Very light rubbing to the boards. Light wear to the corners of boards. Light scuff marks and small superficial chips to the leather bindings. Small sticker to the top of the title pages, reading ‘In Loving Memory of Jeffrey Bortz’. Light foxing throughout, more pronounced on some pages than others. Text is generally clean, and both volumes are solidly bound.
