After Jacopo Robusti Tintoretto (Italian, 1518-1594),
'Bacchus, Venus And Ariadne',
Aquatint on paper,
Label verso attributing publication to the Medici Society,
42.5cm x 49cm,
Ebonised and glazed Dutch frame (at fault)
Provenance: Property of 7th Baron Harlech, The Lord Harlech, Glyn & Brogyntyn Estates
The print is framed under glass and has not been removed for inspection. The print surface shows no obvious damage, however the colours are likely to have faded somewhat over time. There is a fragment of brown paper or similar on the chest of the left hand figure. It is not clear if this is attached to the print surface in some way. The frame is structurally sound but shows open joints at all corners, and rubbing and wear to the ebonised finish.
We believe the print to date from the early 20th century.
