WW1 Military Cross un-named as issued, 1914-15 Star to 697 Sjt O. Mayers R.F.A., BWM and Victory Medal to 2 Lieut O. Mayers and WW2 Defence Medal un-named as issued very fine or better mounted on card with cap badge, 2 collar badges, R.A.A. Vice President enamel badge, R.A.A. blazer badge and 2 photos in uniform in glass fronted display case.
Oscar Mayers's MC was announced in the London Gazette dated 3rd June 1919.
With range of copied research with casualty lists, newspaper extract, LG, MIC etc, he landed in Egypt as a Sgt 10/9/14, the Bolton Evening News dated 29/5/17 reported: "Sgt Oscar Mayers has been gazetted 2nd Lieut in Royal Artillery (23/4/17). An old boy of the Municipal Secondary School, Scoutmaster of the 8th Bolton Boy Scouts, he had been 4 years in the RFA when war broke out, and went out as CQMS to Egypt. He served in the Gallipoli campaign and when that place was evacuated, he was transferred to Egypt, where he has served continually since.
He suffered a GSW to his back with 261 Bde in Nov 1917 in Palestine and a GSW to thigh with 69th Bde Sept 1918. With original 1930 Orders extract where as a Major in 53rd (Bolton) Fld Bde he resigned his commission wef 7/4/30.
With good range of 10 original photos, mostly in uniform, some with Home Guard WW2 and WW2 box of issue addressed to him in Wellingborough. GLASS LID WILL NOT BE POSTED. (See photo) (B)
