Germany - North German Confederation. 1869-70 Entire letter and covers from Leipzig to Calcutta, sent via Marseille franked 10gr, via Triest franked 16gr, or via Brindisi and Alexandria franked 9gr, all with violet octagonal "INLAND POSTAGE" on the reverse, two containing a manuscript charge of 1a or 3a, the other with blue boxed "CALCUTTA / Bg 1 ANNA" alongside. A few small faults but a very unusual origin to India (see lot 1023). (3).
