7th Foot (Royal Fusiliers) Victorian pre 1855 Officer’s shoulder belt plate and portrait.

A good ornately framed and glazed portrait of a seated Officer cradling his sword suspended from shoulder belt, clad in coatee with massive wings, bearing Crimea Medal. His Albert shako with white gloves resting on a table (approx 24 x 29 cms) ... together with an attractive shoulder belt plate, attributed to him, Rococo style seeded gilt plate with raised border ornamented with Acanthus leaves bearing large gilt rose surmounted by a Guelphic style crown superimposed on diagonal pierced Garter with rich blue translucent enamel backing. Reverse retains original two hooks and two studs. Complete with tip and slide mounted on section of buss leather. Professionally restored. Reverse of portrait bearing ink inscription “Capped Richard William Thomas 7th Royal Fusiliers. .... Mrs.Martin Fisher Abington Manor ... Fairford 1854.” (2 items)
