A LEATHER SUITCASE SAID TO HAVE BEEN OWNED BY T.E. LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, approximate dimensions - width 55cm x depth 36cm x height 19cm, the case comes with a letter of provenance from the daughter of the artist Cosmo Clark, the letter reads 'This suitcase has been in our family since 1922, in that year, my father, the artist Cosmo Clark was asked to draw a portrait head of Lawrence, this he did in the studio, according to my parents, Lawrence left behind an Arabic headdress and this suitcase, he never collected them, I have today passed this suitcase on to Mr. Stewart Winstanly, Julia Rhys', Stewart Winstanly is the vendor and a long standing member of the T.E. Lawrence Society, the case is in well-worn condition and the carrying handle is broken, there are no markings to imply ownership by Lawrence, Cosmo Clark painted Lawrence for his book 'The Seven Pillars of Wisdom' but it was not used, the portrait appears on page 93 of Charles Grosvenor's book 'The Portraits of T.E. Lawrence' published 1988, the suitcase also comes with an exhibition booklet for Cosmo and Jean Clark and a modern Arabic headdress
