Jacobites - Appendixes referred to in the report from the Committee appointed by order of the House of Commons to examine Christopher Layer and others etc. London 1722. Folio. Lacking covers but appears complete. Christopher Layer was a leading Jacobite involved in a plot to overthrow George II and install James Francis Edward Stuart (the 'Old Pretender') to the throne. This report provides all the evidence which was used against both him and his fellow conspirators who included the Bishop of Rochester and the Duke of Norfolk. Layer was executed for treason in 1723. A rare document
