ENAMELLED TEAKETTLE INK. 2.5ins tall. Bright blue, with highly detailed, exquisitely hand painted, multi-coloured floral decoration. Elaborate scrolling detail to gold coloured spout (some very light wear). Similar ceramic teakettle fountains decorated with underglaze floral sprays and surrounded by over-glaze enamel and gilding may well be Serves pieces. At the Sevres factory director Alexandre Brongniart had reintroduced enamelling on copper from the mid-19th century. The porcelain and copper versions look remarkably similar (see Mathews M405U and M417U for examples) and both are extremely rare. This particular example is just gorgeous! (9.5/10) NR
