Archibald Woodhouse (Cornish School, late 19th century) A young woman seated by a window, reading a letter signed and dated lower left oil on canvas 42 x 52cm Provenance: The reverse of the frame bears a small plaque for James Lanham, St Ives. Lanham's gallery was an important exhibition venue for artists working in Cornwall during the early days of the artists' colonies established there, including those at Newlyn, Lamorna and St Ives itself.
