British Victorian 1871 Pattern Cavalry Helmet. Brass skull with 3rd Dragoon Guards regimental helmet plate to front. Helmet has brass cross base and fluted plume holder which houses a falling red/black horse hair plume. Gilt metal rosette to top of holder. Brass rosettes which hold a replacement chin chain backed with brown imitation leather. No liner, only leather liner band present. Some unit stamps to rear rim of helmet which have been struck out "7 DG" "6720" "I.09" and an unstruck "1 DG 5386".

Nylon washer to underside of the holder. Plume is incorrect pattern. Usual service wear to skull of helmet. One small split starting to appear on the upper left side. Another small split at rear brim. Please see photos online.
