Army of India Medal 1851, short hyphen, with Nepaul clasp, engraved to (Lieut. E. Pettingal. 19th N.I.). Born Bath (1790-1860) Major General. Col 12th N.I. Services - Present as Cadet at Capture of Cape in Jan 1806 under Sir David Baird, volunteered for active service, but was considered too young to carry a musket. Barasat C.C. Posted Lieut to 19th N.I. in 1807. Capture of Mauritius 1810, Lieut 2nd Vol Bn. Nepal War 1814-15, Kalanga, Lieut 2/19th N.I.in 1st Div (India Medal). Third Mahratta War, Lieut 2/19th N.I. Actg Adjt 2/19th N.I. 16 Oct 1820. Transfd to 39th N.I.(late 2/19th) May 1824. First Burma War, Cachar 1824/5, Capt 39th N.I. (clasp to India Medal), Actg Bde Major at Muttra 7 July 1832. Commdd 5th Local Horse 1 Nov 1832 til 1845, and was in addition for some yrs in charge of Bhopawar Political Agency. Posted Lt Col to 39th N.I. 6 June 1845. Transfd to 26th N.I. Fur. p.a. 20 June 1846 till 31 July 1850. Transfd to 28th N.I. 31 July 1850, to 60th N.I. Mar 1851, to 55th N.I. July 1852, to 12th N.I. Mar 1854. Tempy Bdr 2 cl May 1855, comdg at Barrackpore 23 Nov 1855 till June 1856. Posted Col to 12th N.I. May 1855. Fur p.a. 27 June 1856 till death. With copied research.
