ROLLS-ROYCE 'WHISPER' BONNET MASCOT
The second Lord Montague of Beaulieu commissioned his friend Charles Sykes to create a personal mascot with which to adorn his Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost.
The subject was Eleanor Thornton, the confidential love and personal secretary of Lord Montague.
Sykes cleverly dressed her in a flowing robe, the pressing of one finger against her mouth expressed their secret love.
Names The Whisper, the figurine was fitted to other Silver Ghosts of the pre-first world war period.
Silver plated on bronze base metal, displaying Charles Sykes' signature to the base.
Measures 160mm high x 140mm wide (excluding base). Weighing 950g, single 1.5" stud mounted on wooden plinth.
