Starting in 1969, to aid sales and continue the winning formula of the Mustang, a variety of new performance and decorative options became available, including functional (and non-functional) air scoops, bonnet pins, and both wing and chin spoilers. Additionally, a variety of performance packages were introduced that included the Mach 1, the Boss 302, and Boss 429. The two Boss models were to homologate the engines for racing. The 1969 Mustang was the last year for the GT option. A fourth model available only as a hardtop, the Grande, saw success starting in 1969 with its soft ride, "luxurious" trim, 55 pounds of extra sound deadening, and simulated wood trim. The 1971 Mustang was nearly 3 inches wider than the 1970, its front and rear track was also widened by 3 inches, and its size was most evident in the Sports Roof models with its nearly flat rear roofline.
This example is a 1971 Right Hand Drive Mustang Convertible 302 auto. Fitted with Custom sports modified exhaust system and is finished in Dark Blue. Offered with a new MOT, Chrome wheels, genuine 49k miles, which is fully documented, Power roof and an upgraded radio, which can plug in iPhone etc.
Only a few were made in RHD of this rare 1971 car. Built in Dearborn USA in August 1970, to special order for UK. Specially built for the MD of Ford UK, as a New Years present and presented to him in February 1971. This is a rare opportunity to own an iconic piece of History. It has a Marti report with it. The second owner had the car for 21years before selling it in 1992. The car was sold to a Mr England based in Aberdeen who did a complete ground up restoration taking until 1997. Then it was sold to Mr Clark from Colchester, who kept it fully maintained by an American car specialist.
Now from a Private Collection, it has recently been fully serviced & checked over by a Specialist. Amazing car to own and draws lots of attention.
