Distinguished Service Medal GV to (F.19727 R L Hobson LG. Mech. RNAS. 1917). Born Caterham, Surrey. DSM L/G 1/5/1918. Served HM Naval Air Station Newlyn, Cornwall, as an Observer. He carried out 78 patrols as a seaplane observer. Hobson also took part in attacking and bombing two enemy submarines, and endeavouring to attack one other. 1st attack 23rd Sept 1917 near Mounts Bay. 2nd attack of the Scilly Islands both times dropping 100lb bombs.
