A replacement smokebox numberplate, 35017, from the Southern Railway Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2 Bulleid Pacific No 21C17 BELGIAN MARINE built at Eastleigh in April 1945 and named on 22 October 1945 at Victoria station by the Belgian Minister of Communications. Renumbered 35017 by BR in April 1948 and rebuilt without its streamlined casing in March 1957. Notably it took part in the 1948 Locomotive Exchanges working between Kings Cross and Leeds and Euston and Carlisle. It spent most of its later years at Nine Elms, ending its days at Weymouth from where it was withdrawn in July 1966 and sold for scrap to Buttigiegs at Newport. Steel plate with painted numbers.
