£150
Group of four (4) 1797 King George III copper 'Cartwheel' Pennies including one likely counterfeit (S 3777). Obverses: small laureate draped bust of George III, the legend on the rim reads 'GEORGIUS III · D: G: G · REX.'. Reverses: seated Britannia holding a trident and an olive branch with a shield to the side, a masted ship in the distance, 'BRITANNIA' above with '1797' below. Both obverse and reverse are attributed to Conrad Heinrich Küchler. One of the coins is unusually thin, and underweight, the flan measuring 2.4mm: possibly an error or a contemporary counterfeit. Composition: copper.
