ROWLAND WARD, AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY TAXIDERMY SIBERIAN FOX.
Striking diorama of a foreign Red Fox, probably Siberian, mounted by famous firm Rowland Ward of Piccadilly, London, circa 1910. Cleverly modelled as if running through undergrowth; rear feet aloft and mouth open, with typically thick, light coloured coat and short bushy tail. The detailed, sloping groundwork of natural earth and vegetation bears a signed leaf 'Rowland Ward FZS, 166 Piccadilly London'. Set in a large case with khaki-coloured taped frame and mouth-blown panels to all five sides.
